My Children:
Where born Joshua, 1998, Nicola 2000, Matthew 2002, Samuel 2004 and Jessica 2007. Joshua, Matthew, Samuel and Jessica have all been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. As you can imagine life is very full on. I have also been diagnosed on with Aspergers. This makes life interesting when trying to manage a house hold full of children. I find I get very focused on certain projects and everything else I loose interest in. Its all or nothing. So for the past 4 years I haven't been able to sew due to having the 3 younger ones at home and into everything. I also became involved in getting a breastfeeding support group up and running. I lost interest in sewing and even sold my machines.
I have been interested in sewing for as long as I can remember. My first A in school was in Grade 8 Home Ec making a pillow case. I strugglew with most other parts of schooling but finally found the thing that I was good at. In Grade 11 and 12 I went to boarding school in Toowoomba where I was able study Home Craft where I as able to make porcelin dolls, make raffia hats and do heirloom sewing. I also made my first Quilt in with the help of my Aunty. My Aunty would come and take me out for the weekend to quilt. I loved it.
My first attempt at smocking in Grade 12. |
Since taking the break I have found my love of sewing again. I have been sewing for as long as I can remember. I am very inspired after searching the net by the many different sewers out there. I can't wait to get back into it.
