My Latest Op Shop Finds

I had a great day op shopping today. I went to find some buttons for some things I have been making, which I will be posting  in the next few days.

This Owl oven mitt cost me $0.30.

I went to 3 different op shops to find these buttons. All up it cost me about $3. It was the reason I went to the op shops.

This has some really great techniques in it. It cost me $0.50.

I was so happy to get these cause I have some Enid Gilchrist books. They are great to learn how to draft patterns. They were only $0.50 each.

Loved the material of this oven mitts for $0.30 each.

Very Slack

I have been very slack lately and not posted anything for a week or so. I know they say you should try and do it every day but one day seems to be rolling into another at the moment and before you know it a week has gone by. I think also I have had the flu and really bad sinus so you loose interest and have little energy to worry about things like blogging. Plus dealing with 5 children and a husband is pretty full on at the best of times.

We are slowly settling in to our new home. I when I get a chance have been going down to my sewing room and working on different projects. There seems to be so many things I want to try and it can be a bit overwhelming to work out what I want to do first. My hubby is also saying since I have been spending all this money on bits and pieces I really need to try and sell some it. So I think I probably need to sit down and write out some sort of plan and then try and stick with it. We will see how that goes.

Op Shopping Finds

Well this is my 2nd blog. So much to learn and work out how to set it up. I have been inspired to start going to Op shops and finding resources there. On Friday I went and had a look. The very first time I have done this, after looking at all these sites about re-purposing different things and it was like I was seeing the world from whole different perspective. I found some really wonderful things and I think I will be making lots of trips in the future to these little treasure troves.

I think these pillows would make perfect pillow case dresses.

I love this pattern on the doona cover. I can't wait to see what creations I can come up with.

I looked up Mary Smith when I got home and found out Mary Smith is Enid Gilchirst's sister-in-law.

Was really happy to find these vintage patterns for $0.20 each.

I love these craft magazines cause the come with inserts that have different shapes and pictures you can trace around that you could use for appliqué.

I was really excited to find this book because it teaches you how to draft your own patterns. I have started to look into drafting patterns which I learned how to do when I went to TAFE when I was 18. I started and nearly finished a Cert III in Clothing Manufacture. I just wish I had taken advantage of the opportunity when I had it. It just goes to show you need to take advantage of every situation you are in cause you never know whether you can use it in the future.

All up this and a few other things cost me only about $15. I was pretty happy with that.
